“I have a deep fascination with the journey that manifests the image. The fixing of life, through light, to a medium.”
Born in Venice Beach, Ca and raised between Los Angeles and the wilderness surrounding the Ojai Valley, my creations are a marriage of the urban experience and the insights afforded by the natural world.
I dropped out of high-school after my sophomore year. I was completely fed up on every possible level. A year later I enrolled at Ventura College. I had been a musician my entire childhood and did not want to participate in more formal education on that subject. I was in a rock band. On a whim I decided to take a class in photography and learned to capture, develop and print black and white film.
At twenty-two I was offered the management position for a journalistic wedding and portrait photography studio with photo lab and custom darkroom in Ojai, Ca. I left school to take the full-time job and after managing and shooting for two years, I began working independently.
I photographed for over a decade throughout Southern California as a portrait, event and fine art photographer. In 2004 I began experiments in digital photography, switching entirely in 2006 for my commercial work. In 2012, I closed my studio due to a back injury. Currently residing in Northern California, I continue to practice fine art and film photography and am working on my first book.

“Love conquers all” wrote the poet Virgil more than two millennia ago. Three simple words that have shaped my reality. Art has that power. To transcend time and space and connect with a being far removed from its creator. Being a photographer is a way of distinguishing and interpreting our reality.
Distilling an endless series of moments into an expression of truth, into an image that speaks to someone. In my art the creative atmosphere is the same, the desire to translate this tenuous existence into still frames, to stop time for a moment and look at this life, at this dream we love so deeply.
Freed From Rage and Sorrow
Reflections of Emptiness in the American West
I’ve traveled the back roads and captured the moments that speak. The landscapes have their own story. Buried in the lines and cracks, trickling down the waterways and through the skies. The story of time and subtle energies and the nature of being.
This personal journey in black and white film documents my experiences and observations searching for truth and discovering beauty in the haunting landscape of the American West. Relating patterns, unfolding perceptions, traveling this naked reality in pursuit of understanding.
“Perhaps music is the most expressive of the arts, however, as a photographer I believe that creative photography when practiced in terms of it’s inherent qualities may also reveal endless horizons of meaning.”
⁓ Ansel Adams
